Vonetta and Matt – winter engagement photo shoot in Algonquin
Let’s all give it up for one of the sweetest couples ever: Vonetta and Matt.

Vonetta filled me in on the proposal. ”
10 months after we first met, Matthew proposed to me, with his two dogs (Maple and Skippy) on my birthday. He hand carved on two separate pieces of wood, the words, “Happy Birthday Mom from Maple and Skippy” and “1 token to any jewelry store”. Matt let me pick out my ring, and I chose Tiffany’s as my jeweler of choice. It was the happiest day of my life, to know that I would be spending the rest of my life with Matt, a sweet and caring person and his adorable dogs, whom I treat like my very own little children. It was an amazing experience, which I will treasure forever 🙂
Of course, she said Y-E-S!
Their wedding date is set for May 2023. They will be getting married at the beautiful St. John Brebeuf’s Roman Catholic Church, and their reception will be at Hilton Hotel in Northbrook/Chicago.
I asked Vonetta about the details you’re most excited about for their upcoming wedding!
“Something that makes my marriage to Matt so special is our dedication to celebrating our shared Roman Catholic heritage to the fullest.
Hence, we crafted a wedding that truly honors our Roman Catholic traditions and backgrounds, as well as incorporating our family to the highest degree.
Our wedding pictures by H Photography will be absolutely gorgeous, and we are confident that Doru will do an amazing job in capturing the emotion and love of the wedding.”

They’re not just excited about the details, though. They’re also excited to spend the rest of their lives together. It’s so clear that this couple is head-over-heels for each other!
The reception? Why did you choose these locations?
“We will be getting married in a Roman Catholic ceremony, where we both will be receiving the Sacrament of Matrimony, together. Our wedding will be held at the Hilton, and we specifically selected this venue so we can have our sweet dogs (Maple & Skippy) celebrate with us, throughout the wedding.
The reception will include cocktails, speeches, prayers, dinner and dancing, include a table of pictures and heirlooms of our beloved deceased family members.”
What was your favorite part of the e-session?
Even with the cold and winds, Doru captured us perfectly, as Matt, the pups and I frolicked together in the bright sunshine, my engagement ring dazzling in a ball of snow that I held in my hands, the flowing river, the trees, and the four us… all mesmerizing in these precious moments, forever.
