Ashley and Ian – Summer Engagement Session in West Dundee IL
I recently photographed Ashley and Ian in West Dundee area. This soon-to-be wedded couple will be getting married on June 2022. I am very excited to be their wedding photographer as well.
Our shoot started by the Fox River in West Dundee, and then we moved to Raceway Woods Forest Preserve to change things up a little bit. I love that I didn’t have to prompt them at all to lean in and get close, either. Can’t you feel that passion and heat through your screen?
I asked these two about their love story, and Ashley told me “We actually met on a dating app! We immediately knew each other looked familiar since we both worked at Lifetime Fitness for jobs in the past. That definitely helped the connection form! ”
As for the proposal, Ashley said, “He proposed two days before Christmas which is my favorite holiday. He bought the ring in September and kept it a big secret until the day he did it. After we exchanged gifts he said he might have forgot one in his closet. He gave me a fake gift that wouldn’t open and got down on one knee to ask the question! ”
I asked Ashley few more questions:
Tell me about the details you’re most excited about for your upcoming wedding! Ex. The cake, the vendors, the location, etc.
“Most importantly, we are so excited to spend the day with all of our loved ones who will be gathering in one room together to celebrate our love! We are also very excited about the venue, Bull Valley Golf Club, as Ian and a lot of Ashley’s family members love golf. It is such a beautiful place! We can’t wait to work with all of our vendors either, we truly feel like we have a lot of amazing people that will all work together to make the day great!
What did you each wear to your session?
We had two different outfits. We tried to dress up a little in the downtown area and then we wore our casual outfits in the forest.
What kind of look were you going for?
We wanted to do two different styles. The casual outfits definitely felt more like us and our day to day style, but it was fun to dress up and feel good in the pictures too! I picked out a light blue dress that I loved and then we tried to match Ian’s outfit around that. We are using light blue and navy as our wedding colors, so we thought it worked out perfectly to wear those colors for some of our engagement pictures!
1Do you have any tips or advice for other couples about to have engagement photos taken?
It’s so much fun! The best advice we can give is to trust Doru and the process. We were a little nervous at first, but with Doru’s direction we felt comfortable as the session went on. Just try your best to have fun with it and soak in every moment of it together. When else are you going to be able to feel like a movie star in front of the camera?!
How was your overall session experience?
It was fabulous! We couldn’t be more happy with how it went. Doru made us feel so comfortable the whole time. He is very skilled with what he does and because of that it was easy to follow his lead and trust the process during the whole session. We can’t recommend working with Doru enough. It was such a fun tease that got us even more excited for our wedding day!!!
I know it’s going to be a gorgeous wedding! Their good looks, fabulous outfit choices, a sublime location and their genuine love for each other made this photo shoot one of my favorites ! Can’t wait to capture them again next year!!
