Sharon and Peter – Engagement Session Chicago

Capturing Love in the Heart of Chicago

As a seasoned Chicago engagement photographer, I had the pleasure of capturing Sharon and Peter’s love story against the beautiful and iconic backdrop of our city. We embarked on a memorable journey through some of Chicago’s most picturesque locations, beginning at Buckingham Fountain, moving to the Field Museum, and concluding at Adler Planetarium where we were treated to a spectacular fireworks display.

A Chance Encounter and a Lasting Connection

Sharon and Peter’s journey began in the digital age. They first matched on a dating app and, after a week of getting to know each other, decided to meet at Lucky Strike, a popular bowling alley in the city. What was supposed to be a brief two-hour date turned into an unforgettable evening. After bowling, they walked around the city and to the lake, where they sat and talked for hours, with the city skyline and lake views setting the perfect romantic backdrop.

A Romantic Proposal by the Lake

Peter’s proposal to Sharon was equally magical and thoughtfully planned. After a wonderful date at the Adler Planetarium, he proposed to her by the lakefront path, with the Chicago skyline twinkling in the background—an echo of their first memorable date.

Choosing Iconic Locations for Their Engagement Photos in Chicago

Sharon and Peter chose locations that held special significance to their relationship and highlighted their love for the city. Buckingham Fountain and Grant Park provided the urban skyline they adore, while Adler Planetarium was a sentimental choice, being the site of Peter’s heartfelt proposal. They also wanted to capture the first summer fireworks at Navy Pier, adding a festive touch to their engagement photos.

Excitement for the Upcoming Wedding

When asked about their upcoming wedding, Sharon and Peter expressed their excitement about officially tying the knot in front of their friends and family. Sharon is particularly looking forward to seeing Peter’s reaction when he sees her in her wedding dress for the first time. They will be married at The Center Church in Itasca, with the reception at Venuti’s in Addison—venues chosen for their beauty and the wonderful teams they’ll be working with.

Dressed to Impress

For their engagement session, Peter opted for a stylish Saddlebred tan chambray sport coat paired with Lee dark blue jeans and a pink and white patterned button-up. Sharon looked stunning in a pink high-low A-line dress from Ever-Pretty, complemented by beige heels. They aimed for a chic formal look, reminiscent of a fancy date night.

Tips for Other Couples Planning Engagement Photos

Sharon and Peter’s advice for other couples is invaluable. They recommend trusting your photographer and enjoying the session with your partner. Natural smiles always look better than forced ones. For those planning a lakefront shoot, a wind-resistant hairstyle is a must.

Reflecting on the Experience

The couple’s favorite part of the engagement session was the relaxed atmosphere. They appreciated that I allowed them to be themselves, using candid instructions that made even the formal shots feel natural and unforced. They enjoyed the overall experience and felt it was a fantastic opportunity to prepare for their wedding photos.

Magical Moments at Adler Planetarium
As the sun began to set, we moved to the Adler Planetarium, where Sharon and Peter were enveloped in the warm, golden hues of the Chicago skyline. The breathtaking view of the city bathed in sunset light provided a stunning and romantic backdrop for their photos. The serene beauty of Lake Michigan combined with the majestic skyline created an atmosphere of pure magic. As night fell, the session was crowned by a spectacular fireworks display from Navy Pier. The vibrant bursts of color illuminated the night sky, adding an enchanting touch to the already captivating scene.
