I’ve photographed weddings at beaches, in churches, hotels, courthouses, backyards, and barns, and there’s always something about heading into the big city that makes me giddy! Maybe it’s the fact that I did grew up in the country and always get excited to see the skyscape or the fact that cities are always buzzing with energy.
Some wedding photographers may not enjoy the whole city vibe because it means you have a lot more elements to deal with – such as bright orange cones or a sea of pedestrians – but I say bring it on! Which is EXACTLY what I did for Linda and Steve’s recent wedding, which we photographed smack dab in the middle of Michigan ave on May 12th:
We did start with few images captured of the getting ready and some candid shots with the groomsmen. Then we all took off for the photo session which was planned to take place at the Adler Planetarium. Unfortunatelley, as soon as we got read for the pictures with Chicago skyline in the background it started rainy pretty bad. We only had time for a group photo at the Adler.
We moved to other indoor places in Chicago to get some fun photos with Linda, Steve, and the bridal party.
We had two ceremonies. The tea ceremony that took place on the 5th floor. The American ceremony itself took place at the Chicago Ballroom on 12th floor overviewing the Michigan Avenue and the reception was at the same place, which made for some really spectacular shots.
Their wedding party was poised for action the entire time, which made my life easy and the images fab, too. What I will always remember was the name of the groomsmen. Three of them named Jimmy and the fourth James! I love the urban vibe, the venue, the details, the party – and I especially love this couple! Congrats, lovebirds!
