Kaitlyn and Rober – Winter Engagement Session Chicago
We recently photographed Kaitlyn and Robert at North Avenue Beach – Chicago on a freezing cold day.
This soon-to-be wedded couple will be getting married on October 22nd.
They met in 2017 working together at Outback Steakhouse but officially started dating in March of 2018!
The Proposal: While they were at a family reunion for Kaitlin’s father’s side of the family at Rainbow River in Florida. The whole family was along the riverfront when Kaitlin walked into, what she thought was, a group family picture. That’s when Robert got down on a knee in front of her family and popped the question!
I love that story!
We asked the couple what are they most excited about the upcoming wedding:
“We are most excited about the Fall setting, which is why we chose October in the first place! That, and the fact that our wedding falls on “10/22/22.” We are excited about the venue being relatively local to most families so as many people as possible will be there to celebrate our big day! Oh…and GETTIN’ MARRIED!”
I know it’s going to be a gorgeous wedding! Future wedding details aside, let’s get to the present: Kaitlyn and Robert’s engagement session! These two are real naturals in front of the camera.
What did you each wear to your session?
“We were told to wear colors that “popped” because of the gray/overcast setting in Chicago. Kaitlin wore a Cabernet colored peacoat from Nordstrom, and Robert wore a long gray/blue jacket to compliment Kaitlin’s red jacket. We each brought extra jackets to quickly change into so we could get a variety in our photos.”
What kind of look were you going for?
“We wanted to capture the “frozen tundra” that was Chicago that day, and I believe Sergio nailed it. We were climbing over frozen pieces of Lake Michigan, walking on a frozen pier, and braving the frigid air!”
Do you have any tips or advice for other couples about to have engagement photos taken?
Kaitlin and I wanted to have engagement photos in multiple seasons. We first did this session in frozen Chicago, and plan to have another engagement session done once Spring hits with all the blooming flowers and trees.
How was your overall session experience?
Aside from being dressed very inappropriately for the current Chicago weather, we have absolutely nothing but amazing memories from this photoshoot, and beautiful photos that we will continue to look back on forever! Sergio was great at directing us and utilizing the props we brought along. Bravo!
Looking forward capturing your big day in October!!
