Heading to Chicago Athletic Association Hotel for Christen and James’s Cindy’s Rooftop Wedding . I knew that it was going to be an extraordinarily special day. This gorgeous, planned a sweet, intimate wedding shared between themselves the kids and immediate family.
Christene and James had a first look at Rockeffeler Chapel at Chicago University. What an amazing place for first look!
Some wedding photographers may not enjoy the whole city vibe because it means you have a lot more elements to deal with – such as bright orange cones or a forest of pedestrians – but I say bring it on! Which is EXACTLY what I did for Christene and Jame’s recent wedding. I photographed smack dab in the middle of State Street with Chicago Theater sign in the background then on the middle of Michigan avenue, surrounded by a sea of people. Then I got them at Adler Planetarium for the best skyline of Chicago and on the LaSalle Bridge for a cool industrial feeling of the city.
The ceremony itself took place in the small John Timothy Hope Chapel from Fourth Presbyterian Church on Michigan ave. and the reception was at Cindy’s rooftop at Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. Cindy’s rooftop made for some really spectacular shots. Views over Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, The Art Institute of Chicago and all points south.
I find that one of the best things about small weddings is that they lend themselves to especially tender moments. They also somehow feel a little more at ease, and that’s exactly what the vibe was on this beautiful day in last day of August. Big congrats to the newlyweds!
